Steading stats

Stonetop has four stats, each of which ranges from -1 to +3. The four steading stats are:

  • Fortunes: morale, social cohesion, and just "how it's going." Roll +Fortunes when Seasons Change to see what happens in the coming months, or when you Requisition one of the village's assets.
  • Population: the number of able bodies in town, relative to its Size. Population is a double-edged sword; add it to rolls to Muster or Pull Together, but also add it to the amount of Surplus consumed each winter.
  • Prosperity: the quality and variety of services and household goods, tools and weapons, finery and little luxuries. Roll +Prosperity to Trade & Barter, and add it to the number of uses you get from supplies, the HP you regain when you Recover, and the piercing value of your iron weapons.
  • Defenses: the martial prowess and readiness of the steading; how welltrained and well-armed the inhabitants are. Roll +Defenses to Deploy.

Fortunes start at +1 and change frequently during play. The other three stats start at +0. Population changes in response to the Seasons Change and Meet with Disaster moves. Prosperity and Defenses increase if you complete certain improvements, and decrease if you lose key resources in play.
