Create maps or visuals (maybe)

If you don't already have one, consider making (or using) a map or visual aid to represent the site. This might be a nodal diagram like the one on the previous page, pictures, a representative map, or even 3D terrain if that's your jam.

Maps and visual aids help solidify the site in your mind. They speed up play and make it easier to describe the environment ("It looks like this!"). They make it easier to adjudicate PC actions and to decide what the site's denizens can perceive and how they respond to the PCs.

But maps and visuals require a lot of work. And maps in particular lock you into a specific layout, making it harder to adapt to pacing needs or brilliant ideas. If you don't have time, or if you prefer a looser structure for this site, then don't bother.
