Imagine it in play

Envision a situation where this move could come up in play. Picture your players triggering it. Run through the move. Try to read it with fresh eyes. Imagine your players' reactions. If anything strikes you as unclear, confusing, or awkward, then fix it.

Run through the possible outcomes. Do they all make sense in this scenario? If you can't envision what a given result (or combination of results) would look like, then something's wrong. Rethink the result(s), or how it prompts you to pick them.

Repeat this process a few times, imagining a different potential situation each time.
